He peered down at the cowering messenger, His face distorted with anger, He paced the room. It would do Him no good to punish the messenger, but He was so angry... "Leave, now, before I change my mind" the messenger was gone before His deep voice could even finish. Pacing around the room, He thought about her. She had been such a faithful one, but she had escaped. How could she have escaped?? It was just not possible. And how did she.... this was just too complicated to think about. He needed to find her first, and ask questions later. Lots of long, painful questions...

Frilmonty tore off the last of the meat on the boar carcass. It had been an interesting meal, then he remembered the frightened squeals. The large Frilled Monitor turned away from the corpse, trying to defeat the images of cruelty. He didn't want to harm the boar, nor eat the little fishy. Nature had made him a carnivore, but Frilmonty despised the fact he had to harm others for food. The young creature buried his head in his claws, fighting his mental struggle.......

"I will be fine," Astella spoke, not looking at the falcon. Her leg isn't what she was worried about. "As long as it is far from here, I shall follow. But first things first, I would like to help you with your rheumatism." Astella got up slowly, her hurt leg wobbling slightly under the pressure. She took a deep breath and put her muzzle in the river, finally finding what she was looking for. She took the long, green plant out and put it gently bside the falcon. "I realize that your species eats meat, but this plant once helped my mother..." She struggled for a few moments with the memories, tears developing in her eyes, but she shook the memories and tears away. "If you eat this plant it whould help you with the trouble you are having. And then we shall go, Reth Black-Crest." She looked towards the falcon, her leg still in pain. But her leg was not in so much pain as her mark, and she realized that He was attempting to track her through the connection. She was determined not to back to Him, and just hoped that the falcon would be quick in making his decision...

Satto had no diea what was coming and the next moment he was in a blackness of unconciousness. He slowly opened hois eyes but quickly closed them again. Hes head felt as if it had split into two pieces. He laid there for a few more moments and then slowly opened his eyes. The earth below him tipped but then became level once more. By the time he finally was able to stand his headache had abbated a bit, but was still very hard to concentrate. He knew who had done that and knew that she was not to be messed with from now on, but he also was curious, for he had never encountered a creature with a power liek that before. He slowly padded off and tried to find where he had been before he as sent away magically. He howled to the sky above and ralized that the sun was starting to set already.

Gammaya froze in her tracks and her blood ran cold. She heard the voice of a wolf and knew that they were about. But she was also confuzed that there was only one and not many voices. She knew that if they came to terms that she would win, for the horn was her greatest weapon. One wolf would never stand a chance against her. She quietly pawed the ground and hoped the creature would not come her way. Gammaya shook herelsf after a while and decided that staying in one place was not a good idea and this time slowly and carefully, without making a sound, walked though the forest and came to a stream. She dipped her horn to the water and saw the last few rays of the sun sparkel on it. She heard a noice int he trees not far behind ehr and knew that the hunters had come again and shje was off running as fast as her legs could carry her. She would never let these monsters take her, for she was the last unicorn that she knew of and she would not die by their hands.

Reth accepted the herb silently and chewed on the plant for a while before tying it around his right talon. The falcon flew up to perch on Astella's shoulders before he replied. "Then let us go. We have many miles to travel, and little time to do so. There's a canyon where we will be as safe as possible in these days. See that large sycamore? The canyon is in that direction. There is a glade within a day of walking..... We can rest there for the night. Do you mind if I stay on your back for a while?"

"You can stay as long as you wish, Reth Black-Crest." Astella started to walk, attempting to move normally. It wasn't all that succsesful, however, as she started to limp because of her front leg, but she hoped the falcon could still stay on her. Walking through the forest she noticed many things she hadn't seen in a long time. She realized just big the world really was again, and felt strangely exhilerated. She turned her head now and again, to make sure that the falcon was allright. Pretty soon it was turning dark, as they came into a clearing. "Wait a second...." Astella started, remembering this place. There was a canyon nearby, a bottomless pit filled with unnatural mist. Suddenly her side started to burn, and she yelped out in pain. She folded her legs under her, grinding her teeth in pain from her broken leg, and turned her head around. Unfortunately she would never be able to reach the mark, so she just sighed in frustration. She looked at the falcon. "I sure hope this is the place. Are you sure that it is safe?"

Frilmony finally made up his mind and slithered back into the river. It was nice and cool, with a swift current to keep him strong. He was invisible, no, invincible while he swam beneath the waves. As the strong Frilled Monitor came back up for air, he noticed an even swifter flowing river flowing inland. The young lizard decided to explore this river, and so he did. It flowed smoothly for many miles, the sun was setting and Frilmonty was exhausted when he came to a waterfall. He left the water and looked down. The water plummeted down into a canyon, but the powerful lizard could not see the bottom. Tired as the sun was down, the brave, yet foolish, monitor began to creep down a path in the canyon wall......

Gammaya was running as fast as her legs would carry her. She was wearing out from all of the energy that she had put out today and had not been able to recover yet. She dodged trees and bushes. Jumped over streams and it looked as if she flew over open ground. She was using all of her strength to loose her enemy and get away to a safe place. She ran for a long time but began to slow down, but also realized that she had put quite a bit of distance between her and her pursuers. She had no idea of where to hide until she came to a huge canyon. She would not be able to maneuver herself down the wall before the enemy came to her and she saw a small shelf a ways down the wall, if she could just reach it is would find herself out of harms way for the time being. Gammaya shuffled her hooves in nervousness and then steeled her nerves. She bunched up her back muscles and flung herself down into the canyon. She let out a whinny and threw her head, with her horn high in the air, and it reflected the sun off of it like a small beacon and then she disappeared from sight. She hit the ledge but her legs crumpled under her and she fell onto her side. She laid there for a long time without moving.

Satto was still angry, but knew that whoever and whatever had sent him away was not to be messed with. He looked up into the sky and saw the first few stars appearing in the sky with the sun's golden rays showing on the clouds. Just as every night he found a nice place to curl up and watch the stars appear. He found a small stream running and found that it was quite a peaceful place to be. He was cautious at first and then as he realized that there was nothing but him there for now, he laid down and watched the heavens appear. "I hope that is you guys watching over me tonight. I am hungry and have not succeeded in getting much. It is thrilling to be out here but...." He whispered this to the stars for her believed that it was his pack watching over him.

"I'm sure it's safe. I used to go there many times. Nothing will find us there. How is your leg?" Reth responded, his eyes locking with hers. He was angry at whoever could be so cruel as to brand a young lass. Reth flew up into a tree and waited for her response before falling asleep....

From within his fortress He called upon His minions. He reached out to the Four Elders, looking for the one within the canyon. He found him, Khaos was his name, and called to him. "Yes sir!" a deep voice rang out immediately. Two eyes appeared in the crystal, and He grinned evily. Giving out his instructions, Khaos suddenly smiled, showing two rows of sharp, pointy teeth. The eyes blinked and disappeared, and He started to laugh. His laugh became louder as the mirror standing before him shook under His dark and sinister voice...
At the canyon, two eyes opened. They were red slits amid black, and his nostrils flared. He smelt fresh blood, bitter sweet on his toungue. Licking his scaled lips, he called upon his powers. Mist started to foam up the canyon, over a frilled monitor and a unicorn, and over the top. He jumped up onto the rock by the canyon, and found Her. His nostrils flared again as he inhaled the scent of blood and she screamed. There was a bird there too, but he didn't care about that. She woke up at that instant, and he laughed. This was going to be fun, he thought...

She saw that the falcon was asleep, and decided to wait until morning to answer him completely. She dozed off lying down, her leg aching and broken, the pain of her mark gone, for now. As she slept, her mark started to burn, until she woke up with a yelp. She looked up, and saw what had caused the pain. She got up slowly, feeling very small against this giant creature. He was part dragon, and part giant. Twice the size of any normal dragon, he had two row of teeth, and the muscles of a giant rippling all over him. Fear started to seep into her, but she steeled herself against him. "Khaos..." she started, finding her voice very small. She shook the fear from her, remembering that she had once managed to overcome his greatness. "What are you doing here?" He laughed at her, the deep laugh that could knock over trees. "I am here for you, young Astella. You see, Master is not very happy with you running away, and he wants you back. Now, will you be playing nicely or not?" Her mark burned away at her, and blood started to drip down her leg. "I am never going back, Khaos, and you know it." She gritted her teeth together. Khaos laughed again, "Come on, little one. You and I both know that even acid cannot penetrate my armor. So why don't you give up now? Or do I need some better.... pursuasion?" Khaos grabbed Reth from his tree with his long, spiked tail and brought him up to his mouth. Anger coursed through her, as she had always hated him, and this was just too much. She started to master her powers, but Khaos noticed and opened his mouth, his toungue lolling with the smell of fresh meat. Astella couldn't do this to Reth. "All right, Khaos. I will resist, but only if you let my friend go." Before she knew it, the words had come out. Reth was her friend? She supposed he was, and that gave her some strength. Khaos looked at her strangely. "Why this isn't like you at all, little one. You used to take much more than that before you submitted to me. But a deal is a deal, and I do have some honor. So I let this pigeon go, and you can return with me to Master." Khaos put Reth down rather gently on the grass, and Astella turned to him. Khaos beckoned for her to come to the canyon's edge, and she did so. Astella looked back at Reth once more as Khaos jumped down into the abyss below. Astella brought her tail forth, and pulled on the end of her ribbon. Coming off, she left the ribbon on the edge of the canyon and hoped Reth would be allright. Khaos roared in victory from below as Astella jumped forward, into the mist-filled abyss of the canyone below...

Gammaya slowly started to move again. She lifted her head and looked around noticing that she had indeed made it adn had not died. but she saw a heavy fog around her. She had not been out that ong and knew that somthign was not right. Gammaya stayed silent as she craned her neck up to see if she could get back out and realized that not far away there was a ledge thats he could jump onto and climb back out. Rising shakely to her feet she got up and shook the dush from her body. She realized that she had been cut in many places but it would heal quickly. It had already stopped bleading. She knew that thsi fog was not right and thats he had to get out of there. She got ready to make her way to the next shelf. She launched herlsef clumsely, but she landed stedy. She felt her legs getting stronger the more she was up. She kept on jumping untill she was getting closer to the top, but then she spied a hudge bird on the ground. She had no idea what it was, but reconized it as the same bird that was with the horse creature she had seen earlier. She wanted to make sure it was fine so she jumped over to that shelf of rock and carefully lowered her head towards thsi creature. She then asked, "Are you okay there?" She then backed away a few steps and waited for the bird to wake up and hopefully not attack.

Satto sat up again and took one last look at the stars. He thanked them and then decided to hunt once more. He perked up his ears and listened intently for anything that might be stiring int he grasses in the near distance. He heard a rustling in then grass not far away and sprang. he was right on target and hit a rabbit that was not far away from its burrow. It was to late, it was dead with the initial hit from the big wolf. He dug his sharp teeth into the rabbit killing it easily. He then laid downa nd ate it, for he was hungry and had not been successful earlier in the day. He finished it off quickly and then licked around his muzzle, stood up, and ran again for a while. He had to find a place to sleep for the night.

"Well isn't this lovely news," He whispered to himself. She had made a friend, and for her mistake He now had her. He called upon Khaos. "Bring her to me. Start when the sun comes up, and be gere in a half moonspan or ELSE!" Khaos wasn't too pleased, as the journey took longer than half a moon span, even for him. He didn't care. He was pleased with Khaos, and might give him a reward later for his hard work. He couldn't believe that she had given up so easily. He thought He would have to bring in the Others, but Khaos, being the weakest of the Four, had ensnared her. He started to laugh, long and evilly...

Reth awoke to see a unicorn standing above him. He frowned and blinked to make sure he was seeing correctly. "I'm alright..... been better though...." The falcon had realized Astella was missing as soon as he stood. He turned to the unicorn. "Did you happen to see a young lass by name of Astella? And who in the name of the thermals are you?" Reth looked about and saw huge claw marks in the dirt. They led to the canyon and disappeared. Oh, wonderful. Not only is she gone, but something took her too.... I thought I swore to take no more adventures. The old falcon shook his head in frustration even as his rheumatism stung the joints in his talons. He needed the unicorn to answer soon or he may have to head home feeling like some deflated feather-bag.

Frilmonty froze in terror of the mighty creature he saw come forth from the canyon. "I ain't sticking around if that creature's here." When the thing came back, the frilled monitor bolted back into the river and swam all the way back home before you could say 'look at him go'. Frilmonty cowered inside his den, thinking of those razor sharp teeth and hardened scales.......

The Sun had returned, butshe could not see it where she was. Khaos had been laughing at her all night, and she hadn't slept a bit. They left as the Sun shone overhead, through a tunnel in the canyon wall. Khaos walked quickly, as he was so big, and all she could do was limp behind him. They travelled under the earth for many miles, for how long she just didn't know. She was getting tired when the tunnel opened into a cave. There was no opening in the roof of the cave, but the room glowed nonetheless. "We rest here." Khaos stated, and Astella felt a rush of gratitude for him. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all... A few minutes later they took off again, Astella going first, and headed up a steep tunnel. Astella was happy that they were finally going back to the surface, but if she tripped she might just end up in the mouth of a giant dragon. She saw light ahead, and sped up a little bit, forgetting about her leg for the moment. The Sun was setting already as Khaos emerged from the tunnel. "We are resting here for the night. There will be no fire, and no escaping. Got it?" Astella nodded as Khaos lay down in the clearing, covering up the tunnel from which they had come. He lay in a giant circle, with his tail curled around the ground. Astella was too tired to think, so she lay down in the middle of the circle, knowing that if she left the circle she would wake him up. Astella sighed, and lay full on the ground, resting her leg and her mind, closing her eyes in hope of rest...

Gammaya realized that the bird woke up. "I have not seen anyone by that name, but I do know who you are talking about. I saw you and that horse thing meat int he forest. I had not thought that I would meet you but I am honered to do so. My name is Gammaya and I am a uniorcorn. But one of the oast ones at that." She was hoping that he would have some answers to what had happned. "Do you know what happned? There was a bit mist that just came out of nowhere. I ran and jumped into here to get away from the hunters who had killed the others of my kind." She then was silent to allow this bird to understand what she had all said.
